First weeks of spotting sparrows
December 10, 2014 2:47 pm
Since the project started, our citizen scientists have been out and about, and we have received more than 70 reports of sparrow roosting in trees all over Malta. Some reports have identified the largests roost sites on the islands- the ones in Rabat and Victoria – but some others spotted less evident roosts along large streets, in gardens and parks, and even in private houses!
Our surveyors from Inspire have now received their training, and they will be out on the field in January to confirm your reports. Meanwhile, we were able to confirm some of the roosts ourselves – those are the ones you can already see on the maps.
We are going strong, but we need everybody’s help to protect our trees. Have you sent your report yet?
